By Rudy Grom - Council Deputy Grand Knight
Saint Nicholas Council 17893 was established by the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus on 1 February, 2022. It began with 38 charter members and has grown to its present membership of 67 Knights in just over a year and a half. The Council is affiliated with the Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish in Sun City West.
During its first year of existence, it has integrated itself with numerous parish functions, such as hosting the seasonal monthly Parish Men’s Nights, the weekly Sunday mornings coffee and donuts socials, plus supporting the Parish Women’s Guild Annual Fall Bazaar.
In addition, the Council held its first pancake breakfast in January 2023, plus organized an Annual Golf Outing Scramble in March. The Council has recently made financial contributions to seven different non-profit entities, which included the SCW Foundation Helping Hands and the Posse.
The Knights of Columbus is a global, fraternal organization of Catholic men dedicated to serving and supporting disadvantaged/in-need individuals of the parish and local community. It provides its members with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
