A 37-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2023 murder of Christopher Gonzales.

Noel Jesus Gordillo killed Gonzales on March 5, 2023, according to a release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Police found the victim bleeding from the head inside a business near 28th Drive and Cactus Road. Gonzales died at the scene.

“Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, which showed the victim standing with two others near 28th Drive. Gordillo approached on a bicycle, stopped in front of Gonzales, and fired a single shot, striking him in the head,” the release stated.

Gonzales sought help at a nearby business but died shortly later. Surveillance footage, witness statements and 911 calls led law enforcement officials to identifying Gordillo as the suspect. He was arrested on March 15, 2023.

At the time of the murder, Gordillo had already served two prison sentences and had six prior felony convictions, according to MCAO.

“This criminal has proven again that he cannot live in our community and must be incarcerated,” Maricopa County Attorney Mitchell said.
