These departments drive business recruitment, retention, expansion and small business support; implement and oversee domestic and international economic development strategies; develop and market tourism and events and manage contract creation, monitoring and compliance, according to a press release.

Kevin Burke will take over as the City of Scottsdale’s new senior director of economic development and tourism starting Dec. 29.
These departments drive business recruitment, retention, expansion and small business support; implement and oversee domestic and international economic development strategies; develop and market tourism and events and manage contract creation, monitoring and compliance, according to a press release.
Aside from providing executive leadership, the senior director also advances priority projects that drive high-quality job creation, sustainable growth and Scottsdale’s long-term economic vitality.
Burke joins Scottsdale with more than 15 years of experience in economic development and municipal leadership. Most recently serving as executive management advisor as well as deputy director of economic initiatives for the City of Tucson, where he oversaw strategic initiatives across a $2.4 billion municipal organization. In his role as deputy director of Tucson’s Office of Economic Initiatives, Burke led the city’s economic development strategic plan and partnered with regional and state agencies on high-impact projects. His career includes municipal leadership and economic development roles across multiple cities in Arizona and Texas.
