SUN CITY - Kenneth William Edwards died on Feb. 26, 2015, after making a par on number 16 at Willow Creek, his last hole, and speaking to his loved ones on the night of his passing. To say that Ken was beloved by all who knew him wouldn't do the meaning justice. Ken was a product of the wild frontier having been born in Kingman on Mar. 25, 1936, and spending many of his childhood years with his family in the Arizona desert before moving to San Diego. In San Diego his sister Bettie was born before his family moved on to Eugene, Oregon. Ken excelled at sports and became a varsity member of the trampoline and football squad at Eugene High School. Football took him to college, but his passion took him to the Marine Corps and Camp Lejeune, N.C. It was in North Carolina that he met Eloise, his first wife. Her mother's cooking and her southern charms led to a marriage which produced a beautiful daughter Robin, who passed away in 1976, and his son Kenny. While their marriage did not last, Ken found love again with Phylis. This marriage broadened his family with the addition of Phylis' children Dawn, Hank and Heather. After a few years living in New Jersey, Ken and Phylis' Bell system careers took them out west to Denver, Colo. As a great father and stepfather, Ken loved and cared for his family until Phylis' untimely passing from cancer. A move to Arizona and golf brought him to his final love, Joan. For years, the two spent time golfing, traveling in the San Juan islands and through the Inside Passage to Alaska on their boat the Bonny Banks, and finally, RV'ing. He enjoyed time with Joan's family and grown children, Vincent, Shauna and Kevin. As Ken's health grew progressively more limiting, his family could always tell how he was doing by his golf score. He will be deeply missed by his golfing friends who kept his spirits high and helped him play out his last years by sharing their drives with him and pulling him out of the occasional sand trap. He will be deeply missed by his wife and children, his sister, his daughters and sons in law, numerous grandchildren, one great grandchild, and his many friends for whom he cared deeply. It was a life well lived. It was a life full of love. And we wish we all could be so lucky.
