Keep Scottsdale Beautiful has announced the return of Purge-A-Palooza, a bi-annual clean-out event aimed at ridding homes and businesses of what can be reused or recycled responsibly.
Visitors to our website will be limited to five stories per month unless they opt to subscribe. The five stories do not include our exclusive content written by our journalists.
For $6.99, less than 20 cents a day, digital subscribers will receive unlimited access to YourValley.net, including exclusive content from our newsroom and access to our Daily Independent e-edition.

Purge-A-Palooza to be held at ASU's SkySong

Keep Scottsdale Beautiful has announced the return of Purge-A-Palooza, a bi-annual clean-out event aimed at ridding homes and businesses of what can be reused or recycled responsibly.
This popular community event, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, is a one-stop drop-off recycling event that will accept select items including paper for shredding, electronics, ink cartridges, shoes, textiles/clothing and more, a press release explained.
Purge-A-Palooza will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at SkySong’s north parking lot at Scottsdale Road and McDowell Road.
Accepted items include:
Arts/craft/school supplies
Paper (for on-site shredding)
Cell phones and electronics
Prescription drugs
Eyeglasses
Hangers
Hearing aids
Ink cartridges
Paper bag collection
Plastic bags
Shoes
Textiles and clothing
Keep Scottsdale Beautiful cannot accept CRT televisions and monitors, rear projection televisions, appliances, batteries and household hazardous waste, the release stated.
The event has been sponsored by VIP Mortgage. Services provided by American Textile Recycling Services, AmpleTech Refresh, Scottsdale Police Department, Cutters Document Destruction, Prestige Cleaners and Treasures 4 Teachers.
