Last month a Sun City West resident walked into their garage to find an electric cart on fire.
While leaving electric-powered carts plugged in while parked in a garage is a common practice across the community and in other places around the Valley, Arizona Fire & Medial Authority Division Chief Ashley Losch, the authority’s public information officer, said overloaded electrical outlets are a serious fire concern.
The homeowner returned to the garage an hour later in the area of Deer Valley Road and 151st Avenue to find it ablaze. Fire crews were able to put out the fire before it spread around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.
