Posted

Kay, 87, passed away peacefully in her home in Fountain Hills, Arizona, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by her beloved children, Brad and Holly, and her devoted Scottish Terrier, Isabelle. Born on September 12, 1934, in Spokane, Washington, Kay was the cherished daughter of Versie Violet Patterson (stepfather, James Wilson) and William E. Traynor. She grew up in Republic, Washington, raised by her grandmother, Mary Patterson, and was an only child.
Kay lived a rich and vibrant life, filled with love, creativity and service to others. She married her high school sweetheart, Peter Allen Davis, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2013. Together, they raised their two children, Brad and Holly, supporting them in every way—whether it was attending their activities or simply being present with unwavering love and care.
Kay was known for her warm and generous spirit. A talented artist, she found joy in playing the piano, watercolor painting, floral design, and music of all kinds. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and loved to share her creativity with family and friends. Holidays and gatherings at her home were always memorable, filled with laughter, good food, and her incredible hospitality.
She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a best friend to those fortunate enough to know her. Kay was an active member of the DZ chapter of The Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.), an international sisterhood whose mission is to help women around the world advance through education. She was also active in a garden club that predates the Fountain Hills Community Garden.
Kay had a natural gift for making others feel welcome, and her home was a haven for family and friends alike. She was wise, cheerful, and full of good humor, always quick with a smile and a kind word. “Loving” truly sums up the essence of Kay, as she gave so much of herself to others throughout her life.
In her final hours, Kay reflected on the many loved ones who had gone before her. When asked who she most looked forward to seeing, she simply said, “All the people.” That sentiment captured her life perfectly—Kay was always about the joy, connection, and thriving of all people.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, authenticity and kindness that will be cherished by her children, Brad and Holly (spouse, Darren), and by all those whose lives she touched. Kay will be dearly missed but forever remembered with joy and gratitude.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts of thanksgiving for Kay’s life be offered in her name to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Kay’s family is deeply grateful for the love and support she received during her life and in her passing. As a member of Saint Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church she will be remembered at the Burial Office II with a Celebration of Life followed by a lunch reception on Thursday, November 14, beginning at 10:00 a.m; all are welcome to attend.
