Regarding the hit-and-run incident in Sun City West on July 28, 2023, it seems very curious that MCSO is still waiting on a medical examiners report after two months? We can only hope that the 94-year-old suspect is not still driving around while the case is in pending status.
Tragedies where people are killed needlessly like this are beyond our ability to comprehend. The life of an innocent person is snuffed out in an instant, robbing them of the rest of their life and leaving grieving family and friends who will get little or no justice since the 94-year-old suspect will probably be deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial or serve time.

There are only many unanswered questions from a lot of us, such as why she was allowed to be driving in the state she was in, did she have family or friends who should have seen something was wrong and preventively taken her keys and car away, should the state be testing drivers over a certain age annually for vision and cognitive ability, or why doesn’t the government mandate collision avoidance systems in all new vehicles?
Granted it would have been just as big a tragedy if the driver was a younger person texting or impaired by drugs or alcohol, but there needs to be more awareness generated for family, friends, and law enforcement/government to maintain a closer eye on aging drivers to hopefully avoid as many incidents like this as possible.
