A teacher at Coolidge Junior High was threatened three times early Monday morning, and authorities said a juvenile is in custody for making the phone calls.

Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller stated in a release the first threat was made 12:30 a.m. March 3 and the last at about 1:15 a.m.

“The juvenile called a teacher multiple times stating that he would bring a gun to school. Students at Coolidge Junior High School were searched this morning due to the threat,” the March 3 release stated.

An investigation led to finding the juvenile responsible and upon questioning admitted to saying that he would bring a gun to school but said that he was “prank calling the teacher,” the Pinal County Attorney’s Office release stated.

The boy was taken to a juvenile detention center and will be charged, authorities said.

“Threats like this will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We will make sure that our community feels safe and will do everything in our power to protect children,” the release stated.
