Juneteenth becomes paid holiday for Florence town workers

The Florence Town Council has approved replacing Columbus Day with Juneteenth as a paid holiday for town employees.

In 2021, President Joe Biden signed into law the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, creating a federal holiday to commemorate Juneteenth. June 19 is the official date of observance.
