Apache Junction Mayor Chip Wilson recently declared the month of July as Parks and Recreation Month.
The U.S. House of Representatives designated July as Parks and Recreation Month and the city recognizes the benefits derived from parks, trails and recreation, a proclamation read at the July 5 meeting of the City Council states.

Apache Junction Mayor Chip Wilson recently declared the month of July as Parks and Recreation Month.
The U.S. House of Representatives designated July as Parks and Recreation Month and the city recognizes the benefits derived from parks, trails and recreation, a proclamation read at the July 5 meeting of the City Council states.
“Our parks, trails and recreation programs are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in our city, ensuring the health of all citizens, and creating stronger, more vibrant and resilient communities.
“Parks, trails and recreation programs increase a community’s economic prosperity, increase tourism, aid in the attraction and retention of businesses, and helps reduce crime.
“Parks, trails and recreation programs are fundamental to the environmental and social well-being of our community,” it states.
