SUN CITY - Judith H. Chleborad died peacefully in her home on June 20. Judy was born Aug. 1, 1934 in St Louis, Mo. to Elmer and Mildred Huffman, and grew up in Wichita, Kan. She attended and graduated from Doane College in Crete, Neb. At Doane she met her husband, Don Chleborad. On June, 1958 the two were married and resided in Lincoln, Neb. while Don finished dental school. Post graduation the couple moved to Mt. Home, Idaho with the U.S. Air Force, where Don finished his residency. While in Mt. Home Judy gave birth to two boys, Thomas in 1961 and Donald (Scott) in 1962. After completing the USAF duties, they learned the city of Watertown, S.D. needed a dentist and drove from Lincoln to see. They got caught in a storm and stopped for the night. They had stopped in Brookings, S.D. and did not leave for 40 years. Nearing retirement Judy and Don began spending winters in Sun City moving there full-time in 2003. Judy made a career as a science and fifth grade teacher at Hillcrest Elementary in Brookings. She enjoyed gardening and time at the lake. She was an avid golfer with six holes in one to her credit (and one hole in three, as the tee ball got wet and the next shot went in!) Judy was preceded in death by her husband Donald and her sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her son, Tom of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son, Scott (Jeanne) of rural Canton, S.D.; four grand-children and two great-grand-children. Memorial sevices at Rude's Funeral Home, Brookings.
