Judge’s ruling doesn’t change Queen Creek school mask policy

Despite a judge overruling state Legislative attempts to ban mask mandates in schools, the two districts overseeing most of Queen Creek are keeping the status quo.

On Monday, a Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled a new state law barring schools from imposing mask mandates on students and staff is unconstitutional.

While the judge did not rule on whether the provision itself was unconstitution, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Katherine Cooper stated that rolling it into budget reconciliations bills that she described as having broad, generic titles that fail to inform voters of the changes they enact is unconstitutional.
