A 32-year-old Phoenix man has been sentenced to a decade in prison in a stabbing death, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Joel James Justin was sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge Diane J. Humetewa, who also orderd that he serve three years of supervised release after leaving prison.
On Oct. 3, 2021, Justin, a member of the Gila River Indian Community, stabbed the victim, killing him. The defendant pleaded guilty on Feb. 7, 2023, to voluntary manslaughter, according to a release.
