Judge dismisses Chandler woman’s appeal for return of dogs

Pre-trial conference on criminal charges set for Jan. 30

Thursday, a judge dismissed Sydney McKinley’s appeal to have 13 dogs returned to her from the Arizona Humane Society.

McKinley was jailed briefly Sept. 22 after 55 live and five deceased dogs were found at her Chandler home when a search warrant was served; her criminal charges are still pending.

Chandler Magistrate Alicia M. Skupin dismissed McKinley’s request for an extension. She wrote, in a court order, “this court, having reviewed both appellant’s motion for an extension of time and the state’s response to appellant’s motion, finds no good cause. appellant’s motion for an extension of time to file her appellate memoranda is denied.
