Joyce Elaine Williams

Joyce Elaine (Sawin) Williams, of Sun City, AZ, passed away on December 22, 2018, after falling in her home. She was 88 years of age.She was born in South Bend, IN the family moved to Manton, Mi in 1935."Jo" was born on January 23, 1930 to Flora Mae (Fewlass) and John Dibler Sawin. On July 1l, 1948, she married Larry Jay Williams, her love since junior high school, and soon after they moved to Fruitport, MI. Jo worked as Head Teller at Peoples Bank in Grand Haven, MI, for 13 years and as Head Teller at Commerce Bank in Denver, CO, for 10 years. She and Larry spent many adventurous years living the "mobile life" in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming before finally settling into retirement in Sun City, AZ. There, Joyce was an active member of Willowbrook Methodist Church and a committed card and board game player. She had an infectious laugh, a quick wit, and a deep love for and loyalty to her family. Also known as Mom, Grandma, and GG, Jo is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Franklin; grandsons Brent Steven and Eric Jay Williams; siblings Jean, Maxine, and Ardath; and her parents.She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Larry of Sun City; son Steven (Lana) Williams of Sun City; son-in-law Denny Franklin of Atlanta, GA; sister Betty Sosenko of Manton; brother John (Delores) Sawin of Fruitport; granddaughter Angela (Michael) Woerner, daughter Abby, and son Keegan of Atlanta; and granddaughter-in-law Joy Fisher Williams and sons Fisher and Ruben of Arlington, MA.In lieu of flowers, friends may consider making a donation in Jo's name to The Children's Room of Arlington, MA, at childrensroom.org or Willowbrook Church, Sun City, AZ at willowbrookumc.orgServices will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Willowbrook located at 19390 N. 99th Avenue, Sun City, AZ 85373.
