SUN CITY WEST - Joseph Mastrangelo, 86, of Sun City West, passed away Jan. 15, 2011. Born in Oakland, Calif., on June 27, 1924. Married to Carolyn for 59 years, who survives him. Other survivors include their children, Michael (Melissa) Mastrangelo of Brentwood, Calif., Kathy (Mike) Darg of Lompoc, Calif., and Laura (Dan) O'Leary of Irvine, Calif. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Andrew (Heather), Brian, and Scott Aguailar, Matthew and Laura Mastrangelo and Sara Beck. His great-grandchildren are Anden and Ali Aguailar. Joe was employed 31 years as a bookbinder for the University of California Press in Berkeley, Calif. His hobby was woodworking, that he generously gave away to everyone he befriended, which was anyone he met. He brought smiles to all. Joe always appreciated the greatness in other people but never acknowledged it in himself. He volunteered for many years at Del Webb Hospital as a cart driver and later as a greeter. Memorial service is pending. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
