Joseph Arthur Iverson, January 18, 1924-December 26, 2018Joe passed away at home on December 26, 2018. He was born in Tacoma, WA on January 18, 1924. Joseph is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris Ann Iverson of Sun City West, AZ; Sister Anna Preston of Surprise, AZ; Children Karen Sanders of Surprise, AZ, Debra Gross of Tacoma, WA; Step children Deborah (Ron) Hendrickson of Gig Harbor, WA, Erick Sabo of Goodyear, AZ. Joe was blessed with 8 Grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Miller, Terry (Lacey) Miller, Lori Johnston, David (Alex) Hendrickson, Daniel (Claire) Hendrickson, Emma (Jason) Hayes, Anders Sabo and Ava Sabo. He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Iverson Jr., brothers Lawrence and Harold Iverson, sister Loretta Klingelhoffer.Joe was a World War II veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. He was known to tell many stories of his experiences in the war.He was a businessman in Tacoma, WA involved in the glass business, building and managing Pacific Lanes, Frontier & Narrows Plaza bowling Alleys in Tacoma, WA; building and managing Golf Land and Driving Range; Owner and Manager of the Sands Restaurant in Fircrest, WA.Joe was a member of Fircrest Golf and Country Club and the Elks for many years. He excelled at golf and spent many hours with good friends on the golf course. He loved a good game of Poker and watching sports of all kinds. He enjoyed league and tournament bowling.Doris and Joe also spent many summers boating together with friends and fishing in the Puget Sound.Many thanks to Banner Hospice who has been a tremendous support.
