Jon Lou Sommerdorf, 70Jon Lou Sommerdorf, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and a winter visitor to Apache Junction, passed away March 27, 2007 in Apache Junction, surrounded by his loving family.Mr. Sommerdorf, a retired 3M employee of 34 years, was born in St. Paul, Minn. to Alfred and Bessie Sommerdorf.Mr. Sommerdorf was proud of his military service for his country, having served with honor in the Strategic Air Command of the Air Force. He was an avid volunteer throughout his life; his most recent volunteer position was with the LPGA in Arizona and in Minnesota. One of his most joyful times spent volunteering was at the Banner Desert Medical Center Children's Ward.He is survived by his loving wife, Arma; sons, Jon A. Sommerdorf, Robert "Bob" (Nancy) Sommerdorf, Dean "Bill" Sommerdorf; sisters, Joan (Frank) Klein, Jamice (Larry) Nagle; brother, Richard (Kathy) Simmer; and the little girl that made his eyes sparkle, his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth. A celebration of life was held March 30 at the Club House at Palmas Del Sol East in Apache Junction.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Children's Ward of Banner Desert Medical Center or Hospice of the Valley. Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.
