Johnson: Newspaper should not publish hateful letters

Posted

This is a personal email to the Independent.

I have been so pleased to see the more positive approach you have taken, and when you published the civility checklist I was beyond joyful to see us going back to civility as a cornerstone.

What a disappointment to see you printed Cindy Brown’s response to a benign and gentle letter about respecting hospital staff.

I may be old fashioned, but I do believe you might consider making a formal apology for ignoring your own checklist as you clearly understand the difference between opinions well stated and the debasing response of Cindy Brown.

Again, I hope to see you setting the record straight in print before you destroy all the hard work you have put into your excellent improvements.

Expect the best!
