John R. Ladd, son of John "Jack" and Geraldine Ladd, passed away on December 24, 2017, in Sun City, AZ. Born and raised in Muskegon, MI, he was a graduate of Muskegon High.Mr. Ladd married the then Marilyn Essenberg and together they moved to Jacksonville, FL, where he was assigned after joining the Navy. He was a radio and camera operator on reconnaissance aircraft during the Korean war. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Ladd became a fireman with the Muskegon Fire Department. Later he became a medical salesman and then owned and operated several small business' including the Hertz car and truck rental franchises in Kalamazoo, MI, and several other Michigan and Indiana locations.He retired first, to Florida, and then to Sun City, AZ, where he lived for more than 20 years until his death.Mr. Ladd was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jeff.Survivors include sisters: Cynthia Nyblade, Karen Ladd and Christine Ladd; ex-wife, Marilyn Ladd; daughters, Diane Wespinter and Melinda Slager; and son, Jon.Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at the St. Paul's church in Muskegon, Michigan. A reception will follow at the Church.
