Joan Arlene Janis

Posted
A life well lived is precious. It is filled with hope, strength, grace and devotion. A life well lived is a legacy of joy, love and laughter that our hearts will always treasure. It is with sadness to announce the passing of Joan A. Janis, who died peacefully in her Sun City West, Arizona home on October 12, 2021. She was 80 years old. Joan married Michael Janis in 1959 and they raised their family in the Chicago area for nearly 40 years before relocating to sunny Arizona. Joan is survived by her husband Michael. She is also survived by her children: Michele, Mark, Paul, Christine and Elizabeth. In addition, she is survived by several cousins, along with 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Vlasta Myers, along with her beloved son Joseph P. Janis. Joan attended Morton High School in Illinois and, in later life, received her Associates Degree from College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn IL. Joan played several musical instruments, enjoyed gardening, travel and volunteering before her illness slowly limited her. Whether in-person or on the phone, Joan always loved “grandchild time”. Joan was always immensely proud of her entire family, friends and her spirituality. Her passing leaves us with a tremendous void. Her love and devotion fill us all with nothing but beautiful memories. A Memorial service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona on Monday, November 1 at 1 o’clock p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Sun City West Arizona.
