Jeanne Eichler Gondek

Jeanne Eichler Gondek of Sun City West, AZ, passed away at her residence in the Rock Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Surprise, AZ on January 9, 2018, of complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Hazleton, PA on December 25, 1924.Jeanne was a registered nurse who worked at New York Hospital's Cornell Medical Center during World War II, and at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA afterwards, as well as in numerous doctor's offices throughout her life. She was very proud of her service as a nurse.On November 24, 1951, she married Chester Gondek, and they spent many long years together until his death in 2014.In Sun City West Jeanne was very active in the Roman Catholic Church as a long-time member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Church. She also volunteered in churches in Pennsylvania before she moved to Arizona. In addition she visited residents of numerous nursing homes.She is survived by one son, Paul Gondek, of Philadelphia, PA, and 2 grandchildren, Cecelia Jeanne Gondek of Washington, DC and Carl Chester Gondek of Easton, PA.There will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please provide a donation to the Jeanne Gondek Memorial Fund of the Alzheimer's Association of Arizona.
