Jean M. Mallett, 89, of Sun City, Arizona, formerly of Greeley, Colorado, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 in Surprise, AZ. She was born February 18, 1933 in Grant, Nebraska to Francis and Edith (Pont) Odstrcil. Mrs. Mallett graduated from Ogallala, NE, schools and St. Joes School of Nursing, and Minot State University in Minot, ND. In addition to this she graduated from University of Northern Colorado with two degrees to add in 1972. Jean became a Registered Nurse in North Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, and California. She was employed at Lexington, NE, and Swedish Medical Center in Englewood. Denver Public School and Greeley Public Schools, then retired in 1994. After retirement she worked for short terms at Fairacres Manor Nursing Home, Weld County Public Health, and Weld County Jail. Jean was married to her husband Jim for 60 years prior to his passing. She enjoyed life and working with her husband, dancing, swimming, traveling (traveled to Europe several times and been to nearly all 50 states), camping, snow skiing, boating, volunteering for spring training games baseball games, cheering on the Rockies and Buffaloes, Bridge, and spending time with her sons’ and family. Jean spent a lifetime serving others, educating, informing, and giving back to her others/her community. She was a long-time member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, a teaching honorary; Sigma Theta Tau, National Honorary for Nursing; Altrusa Club, Excelsis Club, Retired School Employees Association, Sun City Nurses Association, St. Clements Bridge, Elks Ladies and Bridge Group. Survivors include sons; Michael (Aby) of Phoenix, Steven of Greeley, Patrick (D.J.) of Littleton, Tom (Tanya) of Torrance, CA and John (Lori) of Aurora; 12 grandchildren, Bridget, Kristen, Mark, Dana, Greta, Santiago, Diego, Kayla, Trevor, Brett, Juliana and Caden; 2 great-grandchildren, Adriana and Teagan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Viewing will be held from 12:00pm – 1:00pm followed by a Life Celebration at 1:00pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
