The JCPenney at Paradise Valley mall will be added to the mixed-use redevelopment of the site. Updated plans also include adding two heavily shaded pedestrian walkways crisscrossing the retail portion of the property.
Ed Bull, a lawyer speaking on behalf of mall redeveloper RED Development, said RED closed on a deal to buy JCPenney in the past month. The department store is still open under its current lease and remains open during the construction of Phase 1, which is underway.
The store will remain open as a tenant of the redeveloped project, officials said.
