Jarrad D. Blank, 84, passed away on July 8, 2017 at the home of her eldest daughter, in Surprise Arizona.She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, David Ralph Blank; her parents, August A., and Lucy W. Denhard; and her brother, "Speedy."The funeral service will be held at a later date in Lewes, DE, where she and David lived for many years.Jarrad was born in Baltimore, MD on April 1, 1933, and grew up with her brother on the family farm in Randallstown, MD. She Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Cornell University and entered the workforce in government service before meeting and marrying David Ralph Blank, in Taipei, Taiwan on June 27, 1956.After a few years traveling the globe with her husband and children, they settled back in the states where she spent some years raising her kids and helping her husband run a kennel in south Florida. Eventually, Jarrad re-entered the workforce, ending her career as a manager in the agrichemical market research department of DuPont in Wilmington, DE, where she is said to have been 'a true pioneering woman, admired by everyone.' Once retired, Jarrad enjoyed continuing education classes with her husband, gardening, and working at the Lewes Library. She was an avid reader all her life, passing on her love of books to her children.Jarrad is survived by her four children and their spouses, David A. and Mieke Blank, of Ferguson MO; Cary and Doug Heath, of Surprise, AZ; Johanna and Bill Bishop, of Columbia, MO; Jessica Blank, of Brooklyn, NY; her eight grandchildren, Jason, Jarrad, Alexandra, Tara, Micaela, Truth, Harper and George; her seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law John, and other family and friends.The family of Jarrad Blank wish to thank the staff and her friends at Orchard Pointe Assisted Living, where she spent the last three years of her life, as well as Hospice of the Valley for the care they provided Jarrad and her family in her last days.
