James Dale West, 90, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017. He was born in Eureka, MT on April 1, 1927.He is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Kathy (Scott), daughter Linda Plyer (Dave), son Mike, one granddaughter Alisha (Jeremy), one grandson Corey Allred and one grandson Jared Williams. He served in the Army Air Corp, graduated at Havre Montana College and worked for the Federal Government in Memphis, TN and Cheyenne, WY before moving to Ogden, UT where he retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1983. For many years he was a snowbird between Salt Lake City and Sun City, AZ. He loved rocks and was a member of the Fairway Sterling & Stones for over 30 years. He loved teaching new members to cut, shape and polish stones and then encase them in sterling silver. He was also a member of the American Legion, Elks Club and Sundial Silverstones and the Rockhound Club. In his younger retirement year's he could be found with his metal detector looking for "treasurers", but his true love was "rocks".A celebration of life will be held in Ogden, UT and interment will be in Eureka, MT.Heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Valley Palliative Care Unit in Glendale for the loving care and support.Memorial donations in his name may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 13614 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85304.
