DELMAR - James C. Bell, Sr., 77, of Delmar, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Thurmond, W.Va.,he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth Bell. He retired from Dukes Lumber and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Ann Bell; sons, James "Jay" Charles Bell of Champ, John James Bell of Delmar, James Cabbelle Bell Jr. of Parsonsburg and Joseph Lynn Bell of Beaufort, N.C.; seven grandchildren; brothers, John Lee Bell of Elkhart, Ind., George Eugene Bell of Dayton, Ohio, Charles Gayla Bell of Charleston, W.Va., and Christopher Lynn Bell of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Rosalee Light of Oak Hill, W.Va., Juel Elizabeth Acord of Red Star, W.Va., and Thelma Louise Winkler of Irvine, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Sue Johnson of Richmond. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Melson's United Methodist Church in Delmar. Interment was in Melson's Cemetery in Delmar. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
