Conflict personal to some as leaders meet to handle grief

Nancy Trau is watching the news of the war in Israel like most Americans. But she has more at stake in the conflict than most here.

Her son, Jack, who goes by the Jewish name Yochanan, moved to a suburb of Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2009, a few years after completing three years of military service there.

But now he’s caught in the crosshairs of a brutal war between Israel and Hamas.
