PHOENIX - This time around, the Ironwood team that earned the top seed all season was the team that took the field for the 5A state title game.
Saturday afternoon at Greenway High School, the Eagles scored off a corner kick and aheader in the 14th minute against district and region rival Sunrise Mountain and never really looked back.
Ironwood added a second goal before halftime and a third in the 50th minute. The #10 seed Mustangs weren't able to mount a scoring threat and the Eagles won 3-0 to bring home the seventh state title in program history and first since 2011.
