Irish acoustic music duo to appear in Sun City
Posted
Switchback, an Irish acoustic music duo, will perform on Monday, Jan. 15 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City.
Switchback is comprised of the duo of Brian Fitzgerald and Martin McCormick, who draw on traditional Celtic music and original Americana songs that reflect their Irish heritage and Midwestern roots. Playing a mix of mandolin, guitar and bass, their harmonies are akin to The Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel. Mr. McCormick is a world class Irish tenor. Switchback performs all over the world, including in Ireland where they have been embraced as native sons.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a Christian Devotional Concert and Liturgical Music by Switchback and the Faith Choir. The performance is open to the public. Dinner follows at 6 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. Switchback concert in Illingworth Hall, also open to the public.
The dinner (costs $8) will be catered by Jane Coughlin, and follows the church’s traditional Thursday night dinners (reservations with payment must be made by noon on Thursday, Jan.11). The church will offer seating for additional concert-goers who want to skip the dinner.
Visit waygoodmusic.com for more information on Switchback. The duo is also scheduled to perform in Tucson, Scottsdale and Mesa this month. Their two concerts at the Cimarron nightclub, 17100 W. Clearview Blvd. in Sun City Grand, are sold out.
