Westbound Interstate 10 will close this weekend west of downtown Phoenix so that crews can continue lane striping near the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between 35th and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Also closed will be ramps from Interstate 17 to westbound I-10, the ramp from the northbound South Mountain Freeway to westbound I-10 and the on-ramps at 27th, 35th and 43rd avenues.

Drivers on the northbound South Mountain Freeway can access westbound I-10 by exiting at Van Buren Street or Buckeye Road and traveling west to 67th Avenue and then north to I-10. Westbound I-10 drivers can access the southbound South Mountain Freeway by taking exiting I-17 at 19th Avenue and driving south to Van Buren Street and west to the South Mountain Freeway.

Drivers continuing west on I-10 should exit before reaching I-17 and follow either Van Buren Street or McDowell Road to 67th Avenue to re-enter westbound I-10.

Westbound I-10 drivers traveling beyond the Phoenix area should consider taking Interstate 8 at Casa Grande to State Route 85, then traveling north to I-10 at Buckeye.

Further west, I-10 will be closed in both directions at Fairway Drive between Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road for bridge construction from 9 p.m. tonight to 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Eastbound on-ramps at Litchfield and Dysart roads and westbound on-ramps at 107th Avenue and Avondale Boulevard all will be closed. Traffic will detour along the new off- and on-ramps at the Fairway Drive interchange.
