Ingeborg Welther-Jones

On February 23rd, 2025, Ingeborg Welther-Jones passed away at the age of 95 of natural causes. Ingeborg was born in Greifswald, Germany on May 18, 1929.

Ingeborg immigrated from Germany with her parents in 1938, settling in Chicago, IL. In December, 1939, her only sibling, Thomas (Tom) Foerster, was born.

In Chicago, Ingeborg attended Lakeview High School where she dated Richard H. (Dick) Welther. “Dick and Inge” were married on July 1, 1950, and had three children, Michael, Mark, and Marcia.

In 1959, the Welther family moved from Chicago to suburban Park Ridge. In 1967, Richard’s work took the family to the Milwaukee, WI suburb of Mequon. Since 1979, Ingeborg has lived in Peoria, AZ, where she moved to be near her brother Dr. Tom Foerster and family.

Richard predeceased Ingeborg in 1985. She married Sam Jones in September 2000. Sam and Ingeborg enjoyed almost 25 years of companionship and travel. With her children grown, Ingeborg went to work at Digital Equipment, Flagstaff Nissan, and the Wigwam Golf Resort of Glendale, AZ.

Ingeborg is survived by husband Samuel Jones, and her three children Mike, Mark, and Marcia, her two grandchildren Emily Welther and Carrie Reynolds, and four great-grandchildren.

The family will be celebrating Ingeborg’s life at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at The Congregational Church of Sun City, 18401 N. 99th Avenue, Sun City, AZ. Donations in Ingeborg’s name can be made to the church. Please contact Mark Welther at (510) 459-1131 for details.
