Improvement projects to affect Tempe travel through September

Posted

Drivers  have been dealing with construction near Rural and Baseline roads for several weeks, and they will continue to see crews working on infrastructure improvement projects through September, Tempe officials said.

Improvement projects include street paving and water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades, including:

• Sewer manhole rehabilitation near Rural and Baseline roads.

• Sewer “pipelining” near Rural and Baseline roads.

• Street improvements on Baseline Road from Mill Avenue to Rural Road.

• Street improvements on Baseline Road from Rural to Price roads.

Neighborhoods and businesses will be updated through signs, postcard mailings, door hangers and other ways during the process, city officials stated in a release, which added there might be “a slight odor, which is typical during rehabilitation of sewer pipelines and manholes.”

Access to businesses, residences and intersections will remain open during the projects, with temporary closures only when essential, officials said.

Project timelines and hours are subject to change. Contact Tempe 311 at 480-350-4311 or tempe311@tempe.gov.
