Mesa Police Department investigators consider impairment as a factor in a golf cart crash that occurred Friday afternoon.
The crash occurred about 4 p.m. Jan. 2 near Greenfield Road and Southern Avenue. It was initially thought it was a collision between the cart and a pedestrian.
A witness said the golf cart was lifted off a man, who was given CPR by a nurse.
A woman who was believed to be part of the incident was at the scene, and the pair were taken to a hospital. The man later died.
“Investigators have since determined that both the man and the woman were occupants of the golf cart prior to the collision and that the man had exited the cart before the incident occurred,” a Mesa Police Department release stated, adding impairment is believed to be a factor.
