Ilene Mae Heller

Heller, Ilene MaeHeller, Ilene Mae, 77, passed away Jan. 26.Mrs. Heller was born in Lansing, Mich. and received her degree in education from Taylor University in Indiana. She married Burton Taylor in 1959 and lived in Drayton Plains, Mich., where she taught elementary school, until she moved to Apache Junction in 1964. She served on the Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission and later was elected councilwoman of Apache Junction, for two terms from 1983-87. She also served the state of California in various capacities concerning RV landlord-tenant law and as president of the Arizona Mobile Home Association from 1983-84. She and her husband owned and operated the Roadrunner RV Park. She was an active member and officer of the Soroptimist Club. In 1990, Ilene married William Heller of Bowling Green, Ohio. The happy couple moved to Reseda Avenue in Mesa. She was one of the founders of the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church and an active member of Velda Rose Methodist Church, until her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leon and Grace Hustin, of Apache Junction and brothers, Herbert Hustin of Safford and Jerry Hustin of Glendale. Mrs. Heller leaves behind her loving husband of 16 years, William Heller; her precious daughter, Evelyn Sue Taylor of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and stepchildren, Janice, Debra, Luane, and Don of Ohio. Mrs. Heller leaves behind an admirable legacy of community service on the municipal and state level. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten and will be forever loved by all of her family and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to Meals on Wheels or Hospice of the Valley. Services were held Jan. 30 at Velda Rose Methodist Church Chapel in Mesa.Mountain View Memorial Gardens Mortuary handled arrangements.
