Idaho Road bike lanes, sidewalks planned in Apache Junction

Because of increased construction costs, the Arizona Department of Transportation is providing $243,247 to help pay for bicycle and pedestrian improvements along Idaho Road from Superstition Boulevard to McKellips Road in Apache Junction.

The city council on July 19 voted 6-0 to approve the funding as part of an amended agreement in a consent agenda with other items. Councilmember Bambi Johnson was absent.

Construction is anticipated to begin this fall, Project Engineer Raquel Schatz said at work session July 18.
