Teenagers sound off on what detention center would mean

The Department of Homeland Security’s plans to convert a vacant warehouse into an ICE detention facility has brought out passions on both sides, including local teens.

DHS paid $70 million in cash for a 400,000-square-foot warehouse on Dysart Road, near neighborhoods, a school, shopping and even a cheerleading school with teens.

With those teenagers potentially being the next generation of homeowners in Surprise, many are watching what city leaders do in a variety of fronts to see if the city will be their future home.
