Ice in the desert is unique. But it does exist indoors.
That is exactly where Sun City West resident Carol Lowe would get in solo practice sessions, either in Peoria or Scottsdale. But her competition training takes place in Delaware. During January, February and March, Lowe spent up to three hours per day, five days per week training with her ice dancing partner, Yovanny Durango.
“I found him on a fluke. One day we met and realized we were both older than 50, which was the requirement to enter the competition for centennial ice dance. We hit it off and danced well together,” she explained.
