Local opponents of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies say recent roundups of immigrants in Phoenix are unjust since those individuals are being stripped of due process.
In recent weeks, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have “targeted and detained” asylum seekers at the U.S. Immigration Court in Phoenix, said Arizona State Sen. Analise Ortiz, D-Phoenix.
A combination of undocumented immigrants and those who are in the U.S. legally attempting to fight their asylum case are among those who have been arrested at the court, local officials say.
