I-17 rest area north of Phoenix ranked among nation’s best

PHOENIX – Many Valley travelers headed north over the Memorial Day weekend spent some time stretching their legs, taking in the views and doing other things at the Sunset Point Rest Area, which recently was named among the best public pit stops in America.

Sunset Point, along Interstate 17 about 55 miles north of downtown Phoenix, was ranked near the top of The Best Public Restrooms in America, based on a survey by a group called American River Wellness, according to a release from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The recently renovated Sunset Point boasts sunsets over the Bradshaw Mountains to the west and views across the valley toward the mountains.
