Posted

Drivers along a section of Interstate 17 should prepare for overnight closures  this week at the State Route 169 interchange, state transportation officials said.

Work on a bridge rehabilitation project will require the closure from Monday night until Wednesday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The schedule for Aug. 19-21 is:

  • North- and southbound 1-17 will be closed near SR 169 (mileposts 277-279).
I-17 will close 8 p.m. Monday and reopen in both directions at 6 a.m. Tuesday, then close again at 8 p.m. Tuesday, reopening Wednesday at 6 a.m. after work is complete.
  •  During the overnight closures, drivers will be temporarily rerouted to the SR 169 on- and off ramps and guided back onto the I-17 to navigate through the work zone.
  • Message boards and barricades will be in place and traffic control personnel will be assisting.

The road work is to clean and paint the bridge as part of the bridge rehabilitation project.
