Hurley: Residents have right to recall

Posted

Members of our association have the right to mount a recall of any director. If a petition with over 1,000 validated owner-member signatures is presented, the association must conduct an owner-member vote within 30 days. Owner-members in good standing will cast votes to either uphold or defeat the recall.

According to Arizona Revised Statute 33-1813 section 4 (g) “A petition that calls for the removal of the same member of the board of directors shall not be submitted more than once during each term of office for that member.”

I have not seen the petition, so I am not aware of the specific issue(s) that prompted this action. As I learn more information, I will be better able to rebut the claims against me.

As a 10-year resident, it has been my honor to serve on the governing board for seven years. I have been appointed to the board twice and have been elected to two three-year terms. I believe that my record on the Board is my best defense.
This is my second year as president, and when I survive this unwarranted action, I will continue to serve on the board until June 2025.
