Liberty boys basketball had just finished its best season in its history in 2021 and was losing eight seniors to graduation.
The Lions needed new players, and an incoming star or two wouldn’t hurt. Ky Green arrived from the Dream City Christian national prep team for the 2021-22 school year. And in fellow junior Caden Hunter — who averaged 4.1 points and 3.4 rebounds off the bench on that deep 2021 team — coach Mark Wood had a returning player who had worked himself into a star.
“If you saw Caden’s workout when no one’s around, you would not be surprised. That kid goes exceptionally hard every single rep. I don’t care id it’s in the middle of July,” Wood said. “When you would go in there in the summer he’d be in there going hard, pouring sweat. His work ethic is special.”
