Hundreds plan to make a difference in Chandler neighborhood

More than 1,000 volunteers are expected to come together on Saturday, Oct. 21, for Chandler’s 13th annual For Our City Day.

The event is the city’s way of celebrating National Make a Difference Day, and it will take place in the Colonia Coronita neighborhood.

Projects include basic yard work, painting homes, spreading gravel, disposal of  unwanted items and a general neighborhood cleanup, according to a release.

Hundreds plan to make a difference in Chandler neighborhood

More than 1,000 volunteers are expected to come together on Saturday, Oct. 21, for Chandler’s 13th annual For Our City Day.

The event is the city’s way of celebrating National Make a Difference Day, and it will take place in the Colonia Coronita neighborhood.

Projects include basic yard work, painting homes, spreading gravel, disposal of  unwanted items and a general neighborhood cleanup, according to a release.

After the event, volunteers and the surrounding community will gather at San Tan Park, 2301 E. Frye Road, for a free neighborhood lunch.

Informational booths and job opportunities will be on display at the park from city departments, local companies and nonprofit organizations, the release stated.

Event schedule:

6:30 a.m. - Volunteer check-in.

7 a.m. to noon – For Our City Day volunteers in action.

Noon to 2 p.m. – Celebration at San Tan Park and lunch.

The Colonia Coronita neighborhood is in east Chandler, from Chandler Boulevard to Frye Road and Cooper to Gilbert roads.
