Howard O. Weger

Howard O. Weger, Ret. USAFR, of Peoria, AZ, took his last flight into the heavens on January 1, 2018. Born February 28, 1924 in Strawberry Point, IA, he is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Jane; 3 sons: Scott, John and Kurt; and 4 grandchildren.He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps, flying 28 night missions over North Africa and Italy, and served in the Air Force Reserve until his military retirement in 1984 as a Lt. Colonel. He had an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Iowa and worked for Westinghouse Electric 25 years. He achieved Registered Professional Engineer status and upon retirement he settled with his wife in Sun City West, AZ, where he remained for over 30 years until shortly before his death. His interests included traveling the world, amateur radio, tennis and golf. He was also actively involved in Lord of Life Church, National Society of Professional Engineers, MOAA, the Order of Daedalions, and the American Legion.Howard will always be remembered for his ever present enthusiasm, his zest for life, and the joyful sparkle in his eyes.
