How drones as first responders could reshape emergency response in Gilbert 

When a 911 call comes in, every second matters.  

In Gilbert, police and fire leaders are testing whether drones can arrive even faster than patrol cars or fire engines, providing real-time information that helps responders make safer, smarter decisions before crews ever reach the scene. 

Assistant Police Chief Jim Bisceglie said the department has built a robust unmanned aerial systems program that now serves as the foundation for expanding into a full drones-as-first-responders, or DFR, model.
