Valley thrift shop collects denim to support sexual assault survivors

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Hope’s Closet thrift store at New Life Center is collecting denim clothing throughout April to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence in the West Valley.

The campaign is tied to International Denim Day, a global movement held every April 30 to raise awareness about sexual assault and combat victim blaming.

International Denim Day began in response to a 1998 ruling by the Italian Supreme Court that overturned a rape conviction, citing the victim’s tight jeans as evidence of consent.
