‘Hope and Unity’ the focus of Paradise Valley MLK 2025

Posted

Once again, the Paradise Valley Baha’i Community and the Town of Paradise Valley are thrilled to invite the public to the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration here in Paradise Valley.  On Monday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. we will gather at Paradise Valley Town Hall (6401 Lincoln Avenue) to honor Dr. King’s inspiring legacy.

This year’s theme, “Hope and Unity,” reflects the enduring power of Dr. King’s dream — a world bound by love, understanding and justice. As Dr. King said, “We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” This profound reminder calls us to see our shared humanity and to work towards unity through love, beyond tolerance, hope and mutual care. We hope our theme resonates with the residents of Paradise Valley and inspires us to find ways we can all serve our community.

As usual, the highlights of the annual celebration include student essay winners who have submitted essays focused on the event theme, a keynote speaker who will set the tone for the celebration, Annual Paradise Valley MLK Diversity Award to the person who has furthered the ends of justice in our community, a special legacy award to former Police Chief John Wintersteen, who worked on and supported the annual MLK event for 25 years, and musical and artistic performances. A buffet lunch will be shared afterwards for all to share fellowship, engage with justice-minded organizations, learn about other upcoming activities and build stronger bonds of friendship and community.

Dr. King’s dream is alive in each of us when we choose to foster hope and embrace unity in our daily lives. Let’s come together to reflect on his vision and renew our commitment to building a better, more just and inclusive future.

We can’t wait to see you there!
