Unity and hope permeated the packed Paradise Valley Town Council chamber during the town’s 27th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration Jan. 20.
This stands as no surprise considering organizers named the theme “unity & hope” for the town’s staple event, this year a rarity falling on Inauguration Day, perhaps a nod to overcoming the cloud of division in the air as a new president is sworn in.
The Paradise Valley event honored Dr. Victor Waters, former town Police Chief John Wintersteen, as well as youth essay contest winners and a visual artist.
